Kevin McGreevy Kevin McGreevy founded Ridley, McGreevy & Weisz with Patrick Ridley and Barrett Weisz on January 1, 2006. Mr. McGreevy’s practice includes criminal defense, appellate, and civil litigation for individuals and entities in both Colorado State and Federal courts. Mr. McGreevy is a member of the Colorado Supreme Court’s Advisory Committee for the Rules of Criminal Procedure, is appointed to the Sentencing Commission’s Task Force on Probationary Sentencing Reform, and is co-chair of the American Bar Association’s Rocky Mountain Chapter of the White Collar Crime Committee. Mr. McGreevy’s experience in criminal defense is wide-ranging and includes representing very large corporations under investigation by the Department of Justice, to representing individuals accused of misdemeanors and traffic offenses. Mr. McGreevy has taken numerous cases to jury trial, including successfully defending those accused of financial crimes as well as sexual assault and homicide. Mr. McGreevy’s criminal defense experience is split between State and Federal courts, and includes representing: a media outlet under investigation by the Public Integrity Section of the Department of Justice; a former Chairman of the Board of a publicly traded company prosecuted for accounting fraud in Federal Court; a governmental entity under investigation by both State and Federal prosecutors for misappropriation of funds; a funeral home director prosecuted by the Attorney General’s division of insurance, and several individuals accused of distribution of controlled substances, financial fraud, and computer crimes. Mr. McGreevy has represented witnesses in both State and Federal grand juries. Prior to founding Ridley, McGreevy & Weisz, Mr. McGreevy was an attorney at Haddon, Morgan & Foreman where he practiced criminal defense and civil litigation. Mr. McGreevy began his legal career as a Deputy State Public Defender in several offices across Colorado. Mr. McGreevy’s last case as a Deputy State Public Defender was defending a young man accused of double homicide that resulted in not guilty verdicts on all counts. Mr. McGreevy’s civil experience includes representing small businesses and individuals in litigation as plaintiffs and defendants. Mr. McGreevy has represented individuals before state licensing boards and regulatory bodies. Mr. McGreevy is a member of the American Bar Association, the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the Colorado Bar Association, the Denver Bar Association, the Colorado Criminal Defense Bar, and the Faculty of Federal Advocates. Mr. McGreevy has been admitted to the Colorado State Bar, the United States District of Colorado, the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit, and the Supreme Court of the United States. He received his juris doctorate, cum laude, from Loyola-Chicago School of Law, and his undergraduate degree from the University of Notre Dame. Mr. McGreevy was born and raised in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. |
