Barrett T. Weisz Barrett Weisz is a founding partner of Ridley, McGreevy, Winocur & Weisz. Mr. Weisz practices criminal defense, white collar criminal defense, appeals, and general civil litigation including insurance bad faith and personal injury, in State and Federal courts. Mr. Weisz also maintains the law firm’s offices in Boulder, Colorado. Mr. Weisz has vast experience in criminal defense. Mr. Weisz has represented individuals under investigation for, or charged with, complex financial crimes as well as persons charged with misdemeanors and traffic offenses. Mr. Weisz has tried many criminal cases before juries in both State and Federal court, and has received acquittals in cases ranging from driving under the influence to first degree murder. In addition to his expertise in criminal jury trials, Mr. Weisz has represented individuals being investigated by state and federal grand juries and has argued criminal appeals before the Colorado Court of Appeals, the Colorado Supreme Court and the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit. Mr. Weisz’s civil experience includes numerous jury trials on behalf of plaintiffs in personal injury and insurance bad faith matters. Mr. Weisz recently obtained a high six-figure jury verdict on behalf of an individual whose insurance company wrongfully denied a claim for a loss. Mr. Weisz also has substantial experience with general civil litigation on behalf of individuals and companies. Prior to founding Ridley, McGreevy, Winocur & Weisz in 2006, Mr. Weisz practiced criminal defense and civil litigation at Richilano and Ridley, P.C. Mr. Weisz also spent five years as a trial lawyer with the Colorado State Public Defender representing individuals charged with crimes in various Colorado jurisdictions including Denver, Colorado Springs, Pueblo and Jefferson County. Mr. Weisz serves on the Board of Directors of the Colorado Criminal Defense Bar. Mr. Weisz is a member of the American Bar Association, the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the Colorado Bar Association, the Denver Bar Association, the Colorado Criminal Defense Bar, and the Faculty of Federal Advocates. Mr. Weisz is admitted to the Colorado State Bar, the United States District Court for the District of Colorado, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit. Mr. Weisz received his juris doctorate from the University of Denver, where he graduated in the top 10% of his class. Mr. Weisz received his undergraduate degree with high honors from the University of California, San Diego. Mr. Weisz was born and raised in Orange County, California. |
